NE youths in Delhi police

Silchar, May 27: Union minister of state for home affairs Kiren Rijiju reiterated in Aizawl last night that the ministry has decided to induct at least 30 youths from the Northeast into Delhi police every year.

Rijiju, who called on chief minister Lal Thanhawla, told him that his ministry had planned to recruit each year in the next few years' time at least 30 youths from the region in Delhi police. He regretted that till now there are only 43 youths from the region serving there.

He said for the proposed recruitment, there would be a fixed quota of 20 men and women only from Assam while from the rest of the northeastern states the upper ceiling of the recruitment each year would be fixed for 10 youths.

Rijiju winded up his two-day Mizoram visit this afternoon.
